Rangers lose to Eagles at Heston

JARDEL Francis-Adeyinka’s late goal couldn’t prevent QPR Under-18s losing narrowly to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Francis-Adeyinka’s stoppage-time strike proved just a consolation in a 2-1 defeat despite a hard-fought performance at Heston against the Eagles, who remain unbeaten this season.

The young R’s suffered an early blow, falling behind to Courtney Watson’s opener for the visitors inside five minutes.

Despite pressure from the R’s either side of half-time, it was Palace who doubled their lead 15 minutes from time. After Rangers failed to clear their lines from a corner, defender Kyle Lynch profited and turned the loose ball home.

Francis-Adeyinka halved the deficit with a neat finish over goalkeeper Matt Funnel, but it proved too little too late as Palace held on for all three points.

QPR U18s: Bowman, Disubi, Genovesi, Mahorn, Gubbins, Bettache, Kifwasima, Dauti (Francis 60), Bansal-McNulty (Mesias 58), Ribeiro (Grant 65), Platt.

Sub (not used): Dickinson.
