QPR’S U18s were beaten 3-1 by Wigan Athletic in Professional Development League 2 South on Saturday morning.

The R’s – who had kicked off their season by beating Barnsley 4-3 a week earlier – fell behind when MacKenzie O'Neill drilled an eye-catching strike into the bottom corner on 16 minutes.

Five minutes later, Arkell Jude-Boyd levelled the clash by finding the corner of the net from inside the box, after a cross from the right had not been properly cleared by the Wigan backline.

But the Latics regained the lead less than 10 minutes into the second period when Harry Jolley headed home from a couple of yards out.

They made it 3-1 on 68 minutes. Wigan striker Kyle Joseph found the net from inside the six-yard box, following a deflected cross from Baba Adeeko.

Paul Furlong’s R’s will hope to bounce back next week when they host Leeds United on Saturday.
