Trialist Rowe scores in Ipswich loss
QPR UNDER-23S tasted defeat in their final outing of 2016 at Ipswich Town on Monday.
Paul Hall’s side headed to Suffolk looking for a third straight win but found themselves 2-0 down by the break. George Fowler headed in James Blanchfield’s free-kick for the opener before Ben Morris doubled Town’s lead, finishing coolly past Seng Dieng after a through ball split the R’s backline.
Rangers were given the chance to halve the deficit early in the second half, when the hosts were penalised for handball in the box. However, Axel Prohouly’s penalty was well kept out by Town goalkeeper Nick Hayes.
Instead, it was Ipswich who got the decisive third goal as Luke Woolfenden headed home from a corner.
Rangers did at least manage a late consolation, with trialist Danny Rowe converting Gianni Crichlow’s cross at the death.
QPR: Dieng, Springer-Downes, Barzey, Klass (Clarke 60), Arthur, Finney, Prohouly, Folkes, Eshun (Wallen 70), Rowe, Crichlow.
Subs (not used): Herdman, Akinola.
Goal: Rowe 90.
