Young R's come from behind at Carshalton

QPR UNDER-23S continued their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 victory at Carshalton Athletic on Saturday.

Paul Hall’s youngsters came from behind at the War Memorial Sports Ground as two goals from Ilias Chair and one apiece from Jay Emmanuel-Thomas (penalty) and Dan Darbyshire secured victory.

Rangers conceded inside eight minutes, but were ahead come half-time.

Emmanuel-Thomas converted a 29th-minute penalty after Chair was upended in the box, and the pair combined again for the R’s second. This time Chair provided the finishing touch from Emmanuel-Thomas’ pass to slide Rangers ahead just before the break.

Carshalton levelled the scores four minutes after the interval, only to see Rangers restore their lead within 60 seconds of the re-start. Chair celebrated his second goal, tucking away Darbyshire’s pull-back.

Half-time substitute Darbyshire himself added the R’s fourth to seal victory, curling a long-range effort into the top corner 17 minutes from time.

Next up for Hall’s side is a trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday, kick-off 12.30pm.
