QPR’S UNDER-23S went down to a James Daly hat-trick for Crystal Palace on Monday.

Paul Hall’s side couldn’t recover from conceding two goals inside the opening 22 minutes, before the result was put to bed in the second period.

Palace made the breakthrough inside seven minutes. After Rangers failed to clear a corner, Daly made no mistake from close range.

The striker scored his second midway through the first half. This time Daly got his head on the end of a cross to beat Seny Dieng in the R’s goal.

Rangers looked for a response but instead it was the hosts who sealed victory just before the hour-mark. Another header from Daly found the net to complete the scoring.

QPR U23s: Dieng, Kakay, Williams, Phillips, Hamalainen, Owens (Wallen 60), Manning, Christie-Davies (Remy 75), Tilt, Emmanuel-Thomas, Alfa (Dalling 60).

Sub (not used): Brozozowski.
