QPR Under-23s suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of ten man Leeds United on Friday evening at Elland Road.

Paul Hall’s youngsters led in Yorkshire seven minutes before half-time courtesy of an Aramide Oteh strike.

However, two second-half goals from Leeds’ Alex Machuda handed the Whites victory despite being reduced to ten men 16 minutes from time.

Oteh had an early sighter on the Leeds goal when he fired over from the edge of the area on eight minutes before the R’s forward then squandered a big chance for his side.

After being slipped in on goal Oteh found himself one-on-one with Whites keeper Kamil Miazek but the Leeds stopper produced a good save to deny the Rangers striker with just ten minutes gone.

At the other end Hoops custodian Marcin Brzozowski was then called into action to deny Jack Clarke before Oriol Rey shot wide of the post for the hosts.

Brzozowski was again on hand to prevent an opener at Elland Road from Alex Machuda in the area as QPR rode out an onslaught from their Yorkshire opponents.

Chay Tilt failed to capitalise from a poor Miazek clearance at the other end for the R’s as he dragged his shot wide on 28 minutes before the winger then forced a brilliant save from the keeper courtesy of a well-struck free-kick.

However, QPR eventually took the lead in the 38th minute as a cross from the right caused havoc in the Leeds area and with Whites duo, Miazek and Rey colliding in the box Oteh smashed home to put the Hoops 1-0 up going into the break.

Following the restart trialist defender, Joe Wilson called Miazek back into action with a good save on 56 minutes with Leeds registering their first chance of the second half on 71 minutes as Bryce Hosannah worked his way into the R’s box before firing over the crossbar.

And two minutes later Leeds were level after Brzozowski fumbled Jordan Stevens shot and Machuda was there on the follow-up to tap in from close range to make it 1-1.

The drama continued as less than 60 seconds later Leeds were reduced to 10 men as Romario Viera picked up his second yellow card of the night and duly received his marching orders.

QPR nearly capitalised on their man advantage almost immediately as Oteh burst through before unleashing a stinging effort off the post and then seeing his effort from the rebound cleared away by Rey.

The miss proved costly though as seven minutes from time ten-man Leeds went in front when Machuda fired in from the edge of the area after bring down teammate Clarke Oduor’s cross 18-yards from goal to make it 2-1.
