QPR U23s v Watford U23s - Professional Development League Two South - Monday, 18th December 2017 - Harlington

A double from Aramide Oteh earned QPR Under-23s a point against Watford on Monday.

Oteh’s penalty put Paul Hall’s side in front at Harlington, but two quick-fire goals midway through the first period saw the visitors turn things around.

That was until just before the hour-mark, when Oteh grabbed his second of the afternoon to secure a share of the spoils in the R’s final outing of 2017.

After a quiet opening, it took 14 minutes for either side to fashion a chance. It came from the visitors but forward David Sesay put it wide of the far post just inside the box.

Instead, it was Rangers who made the breakthrough. Good work from Oteh released Yeni Ngbakoto and, after he was upended in the area, Oteh dispatched the resulting penalty with ease.

The lead was short-lived, however, as they were caught out from their own corner. Watford sprung on the counter and levelled through Alex Jakubiak, who finished cooly beyond Martin Herdman.

Watford had a second just four minutes later. This time Michael Folivi found the net from distance after getting the better of the R’s midfield.

Rangers went close to restoring parity before the break but Oteh was denied a second when his low shot was blocked from point-blank range following Dan Darbyshire’s pull-back.

Oteh went close again after the re-start. Reece Grego-Cox’s cross from the right found the striker unmarked but Oteh could only steer his volley over.

The pair combined again on 57 minutes, and this time Oteh made no mistake. Grego-Cox’s flicked header released the striker who slid the ball past Nathan Gartside in the Hornets goal.

Ngbakoto almost added a third when his fierce 25-yard shot was clawed away by Gartside, so too Osman Kakay who was also denied from distance by Watford’s goalkeeper.

At the other end, the woodwork came to the R’s rescue late on. Sesay’s 25-yard free-kick crashed back off the crossbar as both sides had to settle for a point apiece.
