A GOAL in either half saw QPR Under-23s defeated at Crystal Palace on Monday.

Paul Hall’s side enjoyed the better of the early exchanges, but fell behind 11 minutes in. A through ball split open the R’s backline, allowing Levi Lumeka to beat the onrushing Myles Bowman.

Lumeka would have had a second shortly after, but Bowman was equal to his next effort and palmed it over. The R’s goalkeeper also made important stops from Sam Woods and Kian Flanagan to ensure the margin remained at just one going into half-time.

Bowman was almost rewarded when Rangers went close early in the second half. Mickel Platt’s goal-bound header, though, was cleared off the line.

It would prove decisive as Palace sealed victory with an all-important second goal late on. Bowman could do nothing about a screamer from Gio McGregor which inflicted a fifth straight defeat on the travelling R’s.

Rangers return to home soil next Monday against Bristol City at Harlington.

QPR U23: Bowman, Felix, Genovesi, Carlyle, Fox, Wells, Tilt, Mesias, Platt, Gartow, Shodipo.

Subs: Bettache, Brzozowski, Bansal-McNulty, Gubbins.
