QPR UNDER-23S kicked-off pre-season at Hayes & Yeading on Saturday.

Paul Hall named a relatively inexperienced side for the trip to the SkyEx Stadium, with many of his squad involved with the seniors against Charlton Athletic at Harlington.

Deshane Dalling went close to an opener for Rangers but he was kept out by the home goalkeeper, while opposite number Seny Dieng denied Hayes early on – blocking from Manny Duku.

It was Duku who scored what would prove the winner midway through the first period, however. A free-kick from the left was met by the Hayes man, who guided his diving header inside Dieng’s right-hand post.

The woodwork prevented Rangers conceding a second before half-time. Scott Bridges threatened from 30 yards only to see his effort come back off the crossbar.

The young R’s sought an equaliser after the re-start, but Amrit Bansal-McNulty and Kingsley Eshun were both thwarted by second-half goalkeeper Luke Daley.

Daley continued to frustrate Rangers, as substitute Hugo Cardoso and Dalling were also denied late on as Hayes held on for victory.

Next up for Hall and co is a trip to Cobham to face Chelsea on Wednesday 18th July.

QPR U23: Dieng (Brzozowski 61), Felix, Genovesi (Williams 61), Bettache, Fox, Wells (Noel-Mcleod 61), Platt (Alfa 61), Mesias, Lewis-Eshun, Bansal-McNulty (Cardoso 61), Dalling.

Booked: Wells.
