QPR WOMEN suffered a 2-0 defeat at Gilllingham Ladies on Thursday night.
Fresh from Sunday’s five-goal thriller against Plymouth Argyle, Rangers made a bright start under the lights in Kent and would have gone ahead had Whitney Locke’s early effort not crashed back off the crossbar.
Instead, it was the hosts who made the all-important breakthrough on 19 minutes. Breon Grant raced clear before coolly slotting past R’s goalkeeper Chelsey Dummett.
Both sides had chances thereafter but the game was ultimately decided by a controversial penalty decision midway through the second half. Rangers were harshly penalised for handball, allowing Ellie Manning to convert the resulting spot-kick.
Rangers will hope to bounce back when they travel to C&K Basildon on Sunday.
