QPR Women remain undefeated this pre-season campaign after a second successive 2-2 draw, this time with Luton Town Ladies on Sunday.

Martino Chevannes’ side travelled to Stockwood Park in positive mood, aiming to build on what was a rewarding performance and result last time out against Southampton Women.

The R’s were dealt a blow when Luton took an early lead, but Rangers showed a huge amount of resilience and got their reward with an equaliser on the stroke of half time.

After levelling, Rangers really grew into the game and just after the interval they took the lead. It remained 2-1 until the closing stages but, after all of Rangers’ hard work and determination, Luton grabbed a late equaliser of their own to secure a share of the spoils.

Manager Chevannes praised Rangers on what was another satisfying and pleasing performance, telling www.qpr.co.uk: “It was another good opportunity to look at the squad as a whole, which we changed up from the Southampton game. We were able to play different formations and see players in various positions, allowing us to focus on team shapes and match fitness ahead of the new season.”

Praising the R’s pre-season campaign so far as a whole, he continued: “Conditions have been a major factor of this year’s pre-season campaign; we have had to learn to adapt as the players’ welfare is our biggest concern. This has meant rotating players, which has resulted in games and training sessions being stop-start.”

Looking ahead, the R’s next test comes on Sunday as they face Swindon Town.

“Swindon Town are a team which we know well as they were in our division last season, which adds an element of competition which is hugely important,” Chevannes said.

“It gives us an opportunity to understand where we are at, at this stage of pre-season”.
