QPR FC Women continued their fine start to the campaign with a narrow away victory over London rivals Dulwich Hamlet Women on Sunday afternoon.

Annie Dzyadyk’s first half strike secured all three points for the R’s, as Steve Quashie’s side kicked off their league cup campaign in the perfect way.

Rangers didn’t start the game in the best manner, with goalkeeper Lucie White being forced into action to deny the hosts from taking an early lead. But it didn’t take long for the R’s to respond with Jenny Moore having the first attempt on goal for the away side.

Following this opportunity QPR grew in confidence. Joanna Blodgett was next to go close for the visitors but saw her shot well saved by Katie Aldridge in the Dulwich goal.

In what was quickly becoming a scrappy affair, Vicky Grieve was inches away from giving the R’s the lead when she met Chloe Sampson’s corner kick, but the defender was unable to divert her header on target.

Rangers were eventually rewarded for their hard work when Dzyadyk finished off a fine passing move, which involved Grieve, Blodgett and finally the winger, who smashed home to give the R’s the lead.

Following the break Quashie’s side knew they would be up against it if they were to claim victory and QPR keeper White was on hand again to deny Brittany Sayler.

Despite the home sides pressure Rangers defended resolutely and with minutes to go Milly Cutler had the chance to kill the game, but her effort was straight at the home sides keeper.

With time running out substitute Natalie Skiverton tried her luck from distance but the effort was comfortably saved. But ultimately the R’s were able to hold on to what was a hard earned three points, in the R's first group stage game of the League Cup.

QPR Starting XI: White, Redhead-Ling, Peacock, Painter (Perez 61), Grieve, Blodgett, Petit, Carolan (Cutler 46), Sampson, Moore (Skiverton 61), Dzyadyk.

Goal: Dzyadyk 38.
