RANGERS have concluded their January deadline day business with the addition of Malian international striker Modibo Maiga.
The West Ham United front-man has joined the R’s on loan until the end of the 2013/14 season, following the earlier arrivals of Aaron Hughes, Guilherme Dellatorre, Kevin Doyle and Will Keane.
Maiga – who has featured over 30 times for his country – told www.qpr.co.uk: “It is an exciting new chapter for me.
“I am here to play games and score goals.
“I am very, very grateful to Harry Redknapp for making this deal happen and I am looking forward to playing for QPR.”
A delighted Harry Redknapp added: “Obviously we lost Charlie earlier in the week so we’ve been lucky that we’ve managed to work to bring a few strikers in at fairly short notice.
“Maiga is a player that I watched several years ago when he was out in France, and I think West Ham paid around £5million for him.
“His confidence is perhaps a bit low at the moment but I think he could come in here and do very well. He’s strong, good in the air and I’m pleased to have him.”
Redknapp added: “He’s a player who hasn’t perhaps shown what he is capable of. With a bit of belief in him he could really take off.
“We’ve brought some strikers in who are all good players, we can rotate them, change them about and that’s what you’re looking for.
“This last week has shown that it’s so important to have a good squad of players, and that’s what we’ve got here.”
Maiga will wear the number 40 shirt at Loftus Road.
