Breaking News

YOUNGSTER Michael Petrasso has signed a new three-year contract at QPR.

The R’s winger – whose current deal was due to expire in the summer – has been rewarded for an impressive breakthrough season at both Under-21 and Football League level.

"I'm really pleased to have signed for another three years," Petrasso told www.qpr.co.uk. "It's a really exciting time for me and my family."

Petrasso has recently returned to Rangers after two successful loan spells, making 22 appearances combined at Oldham Athletic and Coventry City.

The Canadian U20 international scored twice in 22 appearances during his stay in League One, including the winner on his Football League debut at Gillingham in November.

Petrasso earned his first call-ups to the senior setup during March, named on the bench for the Championship clashes with Middlesbrough and Blackpool.

The 18 year-old has also shone at Under-21 level, leading the scoring charts alongside team-mate Tom Hitchcock for the R’s Elite Development Squad with nine goals from just 13 outings.

"Going out on loan helped my confidence a lot," he added. "It was my first time playing league football and it helped a lot.

"Being around the First Team has also been a great experience. It's a tight race to get to the Premier League and I'm just hoping I can be a part of it."
