Breaking News

QPR’S Under-18s came away empty-handed from Saturday’s trip to in-form Coventry City.

A first-half hat-trick from George Thomas gave City - unbeaten so far this season - the half-time advantage, after which goals from Ben Stevenson and James Maddison extended the margin of victory.

Defeat was the second in succession for Paul Furlong's side after last weekend’s home loss to Birmingham City ended the R’s three-game winning streak.

Thomas opened the scoring for City, sliding home Jake Whitmore’s deep cross from the right before punishing a slip from trialist R’s goalkeeper Tom McDermott for the second.

Jay Albini pinched the ball off McDermott, before teeing-up Thomas to double the Sky Blues’ lead.

Whitmore and Thomas combined again for the third, as the latter completed his hat-trick before the break with a first-timed volley inside the box.

There was no respite for Rangers, conceding a fourth when Stevenson converted from close range while Maddison found the net with a 25-yard free-kick to complete the scoring.

QPR: McDermott, Kakay, Butler, Williams, Garnett, Arthur, Komodikis (Darbyshire 65), O'Sullivan (Donnellan 80), Mitford (Adams 85), Corkery, Shodipo.

Subs (not used): Hudnott, Crichlow.
