ILIAS Chair’s Morocco have qualified for the knockout stages of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament while Seny Dieng’s Senegal have also edged closer.
Chair was once again an unused substitute as the Atlas Lions beat Comoros 2-0 on Friday with goals from Selim Amallah and Zakaria Aboukhlal.
After their opening-day triumph against Ghana, Morocco can now start preparing themselves for the last 16.
Chair is yet to taste a minute of action in the tournament but will hope to feature when his country play Gabon on Tuesday (7pm GMT).
Dieng played the full 90 minutes and kept his second clean sheet to help Senegal to a goalless draw with Guinea.
That result sees Senegal sit second in Group B on four points, the same number as leaders Guinea.
With the top two in each group, plus the four best third-placed finishers to advance, four points is expected to be enough for a place in the last 16.
Dieng and his team-mates face Malawi on Tuesday (4pm GMT) in their final group fixture.
