FORMER QPR duo Brian Bedford and David Seaman will be inducted into The Forever R’s Club on the opening day of the 2017/18 season.
The pair will return to Loftus Road for the R’s clash against Reading in the Sky Bet Championship, joining an illustrious list of former R’s stars in our popular ex-players association.
Born in Ferndale, South Wales, in 1933, striker Bedford joined Rangers from Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in July 1959.
He was virtually an ever-present for Rangers over the next six years, where he didn’t once fall below 25 goals in a season.
His best tally was 39 in 1961/62, thereby equalling George Goddard’s total from 1929/30, for the all-time QPR record of League and Cup goals scored by one player in a season (Rodney Marsh eventually topped this by notching 44 in the 1966/67 campaign).
In total, Bedford scored 180 goals in 284 appearances for the R’s.
Goalkeeper Seaman, of course, needs little introduction.
He won the first three of his 75 full England caps whilst a QPR player.
Born in Rotherham on September 19th 1963, he joined us from Birmingham in August 1986 for £225,000.
The giant keeper made 175 appearances for the R’s, before a £1.3 million move to Arsenal in July 1990.
Both players will be inducted into The Forever R’s Club at half-time on Saturday by QPR Club Ambassador Andy Sinton, before taking part in a on-pitch Q&A.
