Brian Bedford (1933-2022) - RIP

THE club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Brian Bedford at the age of 88.

Born in Ferndale, South Wales in 1933, striker Bedford joined Rangers from Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in July 1959.

He was virtually an ever-present for us over the next six years, where he didn’t once score less than 25 goals in a season.

His best tally was a staggering 39 in 1961/62, thereby equalling George Goddard’s total from 1929/30 for the all-time QPR record of league and cup goals scored by one player in a season (Rodney Marsh eventually topped this by notching 44 in the 1966/67 campaign).

Bedford scored 14 hat-tricks, including netting four in a game on two occasions. He remains QPR's leading post-war goalscorer.

In total, Bedford scored an incredible 180 goals in 284 appearances for the R’s.

Bedford was inducted into The Forever R’s Club on the opening day of the 2017/18 season.

The thoughts of everyone at QPR are with his family and friends at this sad time.

May he rest in peace.
