FORMER QPR defender Don Shanks has urged Rangers fans to show their support for the legendary Stan Bowles by purchasing tickets for our pre-season friendly against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 29th July.
Ian Holloway's side play host to the Premier League outfit at Loftus Road in their final pre-season friendly in just over three weeks’ time, on a day when the club will commemorate Shanks' former team-mate and best pal Bowles, who is sadly suffering with Alzheimer's.
Tickets for the fixture against Eddie Howe's men, which are on sale now HERE, are priced just £12 for adults / seniors and £6 under-18's.
Supporters should also note there will be no £3.50 administration fee charged for this fixture.
A minimum amount of £15,000 (this net figure is based on historical pre-season fixtures once associated matchday costs have been deducted) from ticket sales will go towards The QPR No.10 Foundation – a newly launched charitable fund managed by QPR in the Community Trust to assist ex-players, staff and their dependents of which Stan will be the first of many recipients.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Shanks urged the R's supporters to show their support for the iconic Bowles, commenting: "The club have been absolutely brilliant in helping us put on this game and promote it - I can't speak highly enough of them and everyone on the committee.
"The stands have been full for Stanley throughout his QPR career, as well as on the occasions he's been back since as a guest of the club and The Forever R's Club.
"Stan gave everything for this club - absolutely everything. He deserves the ground to be packed full.
"Let's give him one last memory on what is likely to be his final visit to Loftus Road. He deserves that."
