Eze suffers defeat in England's Toulon opener

EBERE Eze’s Toulon tournament with England’s Under-20s began with a 2-1 defeat to Japan on Saturday.

QPR youngster Eze started on the bench for Paul Simpson’s side, who made the best possible start when Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah headed the Young Lions in front nine minutes before half-time.

However, Japan replied two minutes after the interval through Takuma Ominami’s equaliser.

And Eze – who came on as a 65th-minute substitute in Aubagne – couldn’t prevent Yoichi Naganuma completing the comeback 22 minutes from time.

England and Eze meet Portugal in their second group game on Tuesday.
