QPR skipper Grant Hall believes that Rangers got the balance between defence and attack just right against Preston North End on Saturday.
A double from Ebere Eze, coupled with a solid defensive display, earned the R’s three points and their first clean sheet of the season.
And Hall was delighted that they were finally able to record their first shut-out of the campaign.
“It means a lot,” he told www.qpr.co.uk. “It’s been a long time coming and is a bit of a relief!
“It’s about having the right balance in the team. In previous games, we have been very attacking and scored a lot of goals. We had maybe left ourselves open and vulnerable to counter attacks at times.
“We have made individual errors, too, that have cost us goals and we have eradicated that in the last two games and have reaped the rewards today (Saturday).
“We knew that we had broken a record with the length of time we had gone without keeping a clean sheet and we obviously didn’t want to continue that any longer. We’re very pleased and I thought we were very solid against Preston.”
Hall was full of praise for goalkeeper Joe Lumley, who made a stunning save from Billy Bodin in the final 10 minutes to keep his sought-after clean sheet intact.
He said: “It was an unbelievable save. I was on the floor at the time and, looking back at it, it was a great save. I’m really pleased for Joe because it’s been a difficult period for him. He’s come out the other side and has looked really confident in the last two games.”
Hall was also asked about two-goal Eze, while he also reserved praise for another of his teammates.
He said: “You know what Ebs brings to the table. He’s always a threat, always creating chances and he is always scoring goals.
“I always feel like he is going to put his penalties away as well. I also want to give a special mention to Brighty, who I thought was excellent. Everyone put in a real shift.
“That’s the best I have seen Bright, defensively. We know he is capable of doing it. We know what a threat he is going forward but it is the other side of the game where the top teams stand out.
“They attack and defend as a team and Bright has shown that he can do it. He was outstanding.”
