IAN Holloway hailed a ‘really good away display’ from his QPR side, as the R’s clinched only their second away victory of the season at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Aramide Oteh, Conor Washington and Massimo Luongo won it for the Hoops, on an afternoon when Holloway’s side were terrific value for the win at the Pirelli Stadium.
A satisfied Holloway told www.qpr.co.uk: “I was delighted with the whole performance. That was a really good away display.
“We picked a team that Burton - and our fans - probably didn’t expect and I thought that bamboozled Nigel’s team.
“We managed to come out on top in a very tough game - but it was no more than we deserved.
“I thought we were good value for the margin of victory.
“We got the right blend and balance today. We created a lot of chances.
“The work-rate, courage and determination from each and every player was a joy to watch.
“I thought we defended as a team and attacked as a team really well.”
Oteh’s first half goal was his first for QPR and Holloway was beaming with delight at the youngster’s performance.
“I’m delighted for Aramide,” he said.
“He was brilliant all afternoon and the goal was just what he deserved.
“It was a great header across goal from Darnell. It was great to see two young players combine like that.”
On Washington and Luongo’s goal, he added: “I’m so pleased for Conor. I thought he was outstanding for us. He took his goal really well and that’s the Conor we want to see.
“The third goal was the icing on the cake for us. It’s great to see Mass get on the scoresheet. I was more pleased with that goal than any other because of the way we worked it.”
Holloway, who saw his side make it two league wins from two in 2018, reserved his final words for the travelling R’s fans, commenting: “Our fans were brilliant all afternoon. They’ll be heading back to London really pleased with the performance they’ve seen from QPR today.
“They were a credit to this football club. There was a bit of banter. But there was a win at the end of it all which is magnificent.”
