SATURDAY saw a clean sweep for our International R’s in action.
Lyndon Dykes continued where he left off for club and country, delivering another vital goal for Scotland in their bid to reach the 2022 World Cup.
Dykes – who had a first-half penalty saved – set up a dramatic comeback against Israel as the Scots twice came from behind, providing the equaliser before Scott McTominay’s 94th-minute strike clinched a 3-2 win.
Victory conserves second spot in Group F for Dykes and co ahead of their trip to Faroe Islands on Tuesday evening.
There was also World Cup qualifying success for Ilias Chair and Seny Dieng on Saturday, who both moved to within one victory of advancing to the last phase.
Chair – fresh from scoring in Wednesday’s 5-0 thrashing of Guinea-Buissau – came up against the same opponents again, helping Morocco to a 3-0 triumph on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Dieng was an unused substitute in Senegal’s 4-1 victory over Namibia before the two sides meet again on Tuesday.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Osman Kakay was also on the winning team as he helped Sierra Leone overcome Gambia by a 2-1 scoreline in their latest friendly.
On Sunday, Andre Gray came on as a substitute in Jamaica's 0-0 draw with Canada while R's team-mate Dillon Barnes watched from the bench throughout.
Unfortunately young R’s attacker Dillon de Silva suffered defeat in Sri Lanka’s final game at the SAFF Championship on Sunday – losing 1-0 to the hosts Maldives.
