QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was relieved to see his charges advance into the second round of the EFL Cup at the expense of Swindon Town on Wednesday night.
Four successful spot-kicks from the R’s ensured their place in round two, after the two sides were level at 2-2 after extra-time.
Hasselbaink, whose side will now play host to Rochdale in the next round, was disappointed with his side’s performance, commenting: “It was a tough game.
“Swindon played really well but we made it really tough for ourselves.
“We didn't win enough second balls and we were sloppy. We were second best.
“I'm disappointed with the performance but on the plus side we are in the next round and playing Rochdale at home next.”
He added: “You take every win, no matter how they come.
“It's important for the mental state that we win games but we need to keep improving.
“We march on. We don't complain. And we go again on Sunday (against Cardiff City).”
Yeni Ngbakoto opened the scoring on his debut, whilst there was also a first goal in QPR colours for Conor Washington.
Hasselbaink added: “Yeni needs to get up to speed but he did well tonight.
“His intensity in pre-season with Metz wasn't like ours, so it may take a little time for him to get up to speed.
“He will be a very important player for us and you could see glimpses of what he's capable of tonight.
“Conor’s goal will do him the power of good. I'm pleased for him.
“He had it a little difficult tonight but there's so much more to come from him.”
