QPR boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink praised a ‘committed and professional’ performance from his side, as the R’s beat Wigan Athletic 1-0 at the DW Stadium.
Nedum Onuoha scored the only goal of the game early in the second half, as Rangers clinched a deserved victory ahead of the upcoming international break.
Hasselbaink told www.qpr.co.uk: “It was a very important win today.
“The result was all-important after our last two league games. We will play better, but after two League losses, winning the game was the most important thing today.
“I couldn’t be happier with the commitment we showed – it was second to none.
“We got the job done today and that was what it was all about.
“I'm happy that we've come away with all three points with a professional performance.”
Hasselbaink hailed Onuoha, who led by example at the heart of the R’s back four, for his well-taken goal, commenting: “Nedum had a really good game. He was fantastic for us.
“It was a real captain’s performance from him.
“He took his goal well. It was a really good finish – a good hit. He was due one because all he normally scores is headers!”
QPR have a two-week break now before they play host to Blackburn Rovers at Loftus Road and Hasselbaink is looking forward to building on today’s win by working hard on the training ground over the next fortnight, adding: “We've got two weeks now to rest up, work hard and get a few players back from injury.
“We want to build. We want to try to keep on improving and push each other.
“Today was a good day for us but it’s all about improvement and consistency – and that’s what we’re striving for.”
