Legends to honour 16th anniversary of Kiyan Prince’s tragic death

ON SUNDAY 29th May 2022, two teams of former professional footballing stars will come together in aid of the Kiyan Prince Foundation, to commemorate the 16th anniversary of Kiyan Prince’s untimely death.

Kicking off at 3pm, Team Harvey – captained by former AFC Wimbledon footballer Michael Harvey and member of UK Garage collective So Solid Crew – will go head-to-head against an Arsenal Charity Team of ex-professional footballers captained by Ian Selley at Beaconsfield Town FC to raise funds for the Foundation.

Other standout players in Harvey’s squad include ex-QPR duo Nedum Onuoha and Danny Simpson, Soccer Saturday pundit Clinton Morrison and ex-Aston Villa and West Ham striker Marlon Harewood. They will go up against Arsenal favourites Nigel Winterburn and Luis Boa Morte.

Dr. Mark Prince OBE will honour the man of the match award, with an evening reception taking place for players and spectators after the final whistle is blown.

The Kiyan Prince Foundation, founded and led by Kiyan’s father Dr. Mark, works to empower young people by applying and building their character to drive their success. The Foundation’s work has seen Dr. Mark honoured with an OBE and led QPR – Kiyan’s team – to rename their ground the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

The fundraising match will also mark one year since the launch of the Foundation’s #LongLiveThePrince campaign, which brought Kiyan back to life as the 30-year old professional footballer he should have been. Partnering with EA SPORTS on FIFA 21, Kiyan was added as part of QPR’s in-game team line-up, and placed front and centre on Piccadilly Circus’ screens as part of JD Sports’ advertising campaign.

The community event is being co-ordinated by Jade Green Productions, with tickets available to purchase HERE. Direct donations to the Kiyan Prince Foundation can be made HERE.

Ahead of the match, Harvey said: “We’re proud to be championing the Kiyan Prince Foundation and celebrating the talented footballer Kiyan was. The work Mark and his team carry out has never been more important, so to support their goals while – hopefully – scoring some of our own will be a spectacle not to be missed.”

Dr. Mark Prince OBE said: “The Kiyan Prince Foundation is all about turning adversity into positive energy, so I can’t think of a better way to honour Kiyan’s legacy. Through the funds raised at this match, we’ll be able to continue to empower, educate and coach young people to become their best selves. May the best team win!”
