Loan Rangers: Bonne strikes again

IT WAS another busy week for our Loan Rangers, with no less than seven of our boys in action for the respective sides throughout the weekend.

But once again it was defender Conor Masterson and forward Macauley Bonne who caught the headlines, with the Irish centre-half starring in Cambridge United’s impressive 2-1 victory over Portsmouth, while Zimbabwean international Bonne slotted home, ensuring Ipswich sealed all three points against Lincoln City.\

Winger Mide Shodipo was able to make his Sheffield Wednesday home debut, but injury meant he was replaced in the 77th minute, with Wednesday only able to secure a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury Town.

Meanwhile, Charlie Kelman was only able to play 38 minutes in Gillingham’s 4-1 away defeat to MK Dons.

Elsewhere, midfielder Faysal Bettache played 84 minutes in Oldham’s goalless draw with Hartlepool United, while Amrit Bansal-McNulty remained an unused substitute in Crawley Town’s away victory over Colchester United.

In the National League, forward Hamzad Kargbo arrived in 82nd minute for Southend United but couldn’t stop the Blues from suffering a 1-0 defeat away to Torquay United.

Finally, full-back Niko Hamalainen returned to LA Galaxy action following the international break, with the Finnish international playing 67 minutes in their 3-0 away defeat to Minnesota.

Austin away is next up for Hamalainen and LA Galaxy on Monday 27th, while Gillingham host Charlton Athletic and Crawley welcome Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening.

Oldham are in Carabao Cup action on Tuesday when they travel to Brentford, but of course Bettache will be missing from the matchday squad as he is cup-tied, after featuring for the R’s against Leyton Orient in the first round.

Cambridge are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Fleetwood Town to the Abbey Stadium, while Bonne’s Ipswich face Shodipo’s Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

Lastly, Southend and Kargbo aren’t action until October 2nd when they travel to Solihull Moors.
