A MAN-OF-THE-MATCH display from Eberechi Eze earned Wycombe Wanderers three points at the weekend in a 2-1 win against Yeovil Town.
19-year-old Eze was the star of the show as he put Wanderers 1-0 up after 37 minutes with a long range strike.
The R’s attacker then earned the Chairboys a penalty as Joe Jacobson fired home from 12-yards two minutes before half-time.
Francois Zoko did pull a goal back for the Glovers 60 seconds later but Gareth Ainsworth’s side held on for all three points to cement their place in the League Two play-offs.
Eze’s Under-23s teammate Jack Williams was amongst the unused substitutes at Adams Park.
Goalkeeper Matt Ingram helped Northampton Town end a run of two straight defeats with a 0-0 draw against Bury on Saturday.
Ingram kept a clean sheet for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side at Sixfields stadium on his 16th appearance for the Cobblers.
Despite picking up a point Town remain in the League One relegation zone.
Meanwhile, midfielder Brandon Comley returned to the starting line-up for Colchester Untied in their 2-1 defeat at Notts County at the weekend.
Comley was handed a recall by the U’s after starting on the bench midweek.
However, despite completing 90 minutes - his 15th appearance for the Essex side - a 90th minute Ryan Yates winner cancelled out Sanmi Odelusi’s 89th minute equaliser as Colchester returned home empty handed.
Defender Alex Finney suffered a second consecutive 4-0 defeat with Maidstone United as they went down at Tranmere Rovers.
Finney played the full 90 minutes for the National League side at Prenton Park.
However, custodian Seny Dieng recorded his first win with Whitehawk in their 2-1 victory against Chippenham Town in the FA Trophy. The Under-23s keeper played 90 minutes for The Hawks.
Finally, Under-23s forward Brandon Adams was not in Linfield’s matchday squad for their 1-0 win at Glenavon on Friday night.
