MIDE Shodipo and Oxford United earned an incredible eighth straight victory in all competitions by beating Fleetwood Town 1-0 in Sky Bet League One on Saturday.
Shodipo started and played 64 minutes for the U’s before being replaced by Daniel Agyei. It had been 38 seasons since Oxford had last won eight on the spin and they now sit just three points outside of the play-off places.
Also in League One, Paul Smyth came off the bench for his second Accrington Stanley debut on Saturday. They led twice at Plymouth Argyle but could only come away with a point from Home Park.
Conor Masterson’s Swindon Town went down to a single-goal defeat against League One leaders Hull City on Saturday. Masterson played the full 90 minutes for the Robins, who could not find an equaliser after falling behind in the fifth minute.
Dillon Barnes and Burton Albion saw their fixture at Blackpool postponed on Saturday, due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases within the Burton camp. The Brewers are due to be back in action at the weekend when they host Hull.
In League Two, Rem Oteh played the final half an hour of Colchester United’s 1-0 defeat against Scunthorpe United on Saturday. He’ll hope to get more minutes under his belt when they travel to Salford City on Tuesday evening.
In the National League, Themis Kefalas was an unused substitute for Barnet as they were beaten 2-0 at home by runaway leaders Torquay United on Saturday. Deshane Dalling was unable to make his debut for Wealdstone at the weekend as their fixture at Solihull Moors was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Up in Scotland, Liam Kelly’s Motherwell had the weekend off as they are already out of the Scottish Cup. They return to Premiership action on Wednesday when they host Dundee United.
Charley Kendall and Kai Woollard-Innocent were not in action for Eastbourne Borough, nor was Aaron Drewe for Oxford City, due to the two week circuit break imposed on the National League South.
