Loan Rangers: Update on R's six

LOAN Rangers is back for 2021/22, with six R's players currently out on loan across the EFL, National League and America's MLS.

Conor Masterson last week moved to Cambridge United and has played every minute for the League One U’s since.

Cambridge secured an impressive 3-0 win over Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Burton Albion last Saturday, with three second-half goals adding to the clean sheet kept by Masterson and his team-mates.

United were also in EFL Cup action in midweek, but unfortunately fell at the second-round stage after losing 3-1 at Championship side Millwall.

Staying in League One, Macauley Bonne was at the double for Ipswich Town, who were held to a 2-2 home draw by Milton Keynes Dons last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mide Shodipo remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and wasn't involved for Sheffield Wednesday last weekend as they overcame Rotherham United 2-0 at the New York Stadium.

Like Masterson, Faysal Bettache moved out on loan last week, and similarly impressed for Oldham Athletic last Saturday – despite the Latics being subjected to a 2-1 home loss by Colchester United.

Bettache wasn’t involved for Oldham on Tuesday night when they made it through to the third round of the EFL Cup by beating Accrington Stanley on penalties.

Striker Hamzad Kargbo was an unused substitute as Southend United began life in the National League with a 1-0 win at King’s Lynn Town.

Finally, over in the MLS, Niko Hamalainen unfortunately netted an own goal as LA Galaxy were beaten 2-1 at home by San Jose.

This weekend, Cambridge host Bolton Wanderers, Ipswich welcome AFC Wimbledon, Sheffield Wednesday are at Morecombe, Oldham travel to Sutton United, Southend take on Stockport and LA Galaxy will visit LAFC.
