Loftus Road prepares for 100th anniversary this weekend

QPR will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of our first fixture at Loftus Road when we host Ipswich Town in W12 this weekend.

Rangers’ opening game at the stadium took place on 8th September 1917 against West Ham United, and on Saturday, a whole host of QPR greats will be back to mark the anniversary.

As part of the celebrations, every member of the Forever R’s – QPR’s ex-players’ association – has been invited to the game against the Tractor Boys.

While some are unable to make it owing to other commitments, or health, we are delighted to announce the following players will be at the stadium on Saturday:

Mike Barber
Lee Cook
Wayne Fereday
Kevin Gallen
Paul Goddard
Bob Hazell
Tony Hazell
Peter Hucker
Richard Langley
Danny Maddix
Paul Parker
Phil Parkes
Don Shanks
Danny Shittu
Andy Sinton
Frank Sibley
Mark Lazarus
Gary Micklewhite
Roger Morgan
Warren Neill
Martin Rowlands
Clive Wilson

And as we celebrate this special landmark, we want YOU to be part of it all!

Do you have a special photo taken at Loftus Road which you would like to be shown on the big screen on Saturday?

If so, send it to us via [email protected] or tweet it through to us using the hashtag #LoftusRoad100 by 10am on Thursday 7th September. Although we will try our best, late entries may not be able to be included.

There will also be special offers in the Superstore on Retro Wear, autobiographies of past players and historic DVDs so make sure you check them out ahead of kick off!

And if you’re one of the early-arrivers on a matchday, this may well interest you – on Saturday we will be giving a special prize to the 100th person through the turnstiles, and that individual will be presented with their gift on the pitch ahead of kick off!

Saturday promises to be a truly special occasion at Loftus Road, so make sure you are part of it! Tickets for QPR vs Ipswich are available HERE.
