QPR will be without midfielder Massimo Luongo for potentially over a month after he was called-up to the Australian national side for the Asia Cup today.
The R’s midfielder has been selected by the Socceroos for the tournament in the United Arab Emirates in January and could miss as many as seven R’s matches depending on if Australia goes all the way to the final as they managed in 2015.
As a result, Luongo will link up with Australia for a pre-tournament training camp after the R's Boxing Day clash with Ipswich Town.
Luongo will at least miss four QPR fixtures against Reading (29th December), Aston Villa (1st January), Leeds United (6th January) and Sheffield United (12th January), with the group stages set to finish on the 16th January.
However, if Australia progress to the Round of 16 (Preston North End - 19th January), Quarter-Finals (WBA - 26th January) or Semi-Finals/Final (Wigan - 2nd February) Luongo will miss up to a further three matches.
