MASSIMO Luongo and Australia warmed up for the upcoming Confederations Cup in Russia with a friendly defeat to 2013 champions Brazil on Tuesday.
Luongo – who came off the bench in Thursday's crucial win over Saudi Arabia – featured from the off, playing 78 minutes in Melbourne where the hosts were second best to the world’s number one side.
Australia suffered the worst possible start when Diego Souza opened the scoring inside 12 seconds.
It remained 1-0 until the hour-mark, when goals from Thiago Silva and Taison in the space of 13 minutes set the seal on victory for the South Americans before Souza grabbed his second and Brazil's fourth in stoppage time.
Next up for Luongo and co is the Confiderations Cup in Russia, which kicks-off on Saturday.
