Luongo's Socceroos exit Confederations Cup

MASSIMO Luongo’s Australia side exited the Confederation Cup on Sunday evening despite a 1-1 draw against Chile.

The QPR midfielder played the full 90 minutes for the Socceroos in Moscow, Russia as his side bowed out of the competition after finishing third in Group B.

In truth the Aussie’s outshone their South American opponents for large portions of the match - and despite taking the lead through forward James Troisi in the 42nd minute - Ange Postecoglou’s side were forced to settle for a point when Martin Rodriguez struck level in the 67th minute.

Luongo will rejoin up with his QPR teammates for pre-season training - who flew to Portugal this afternoon for a week long training camp - following an extended break to recover ahead of the start of the new Sky Bet Championship season.
