McClaren: Lets keep it going now

STEVE McClaren wants more home displays like the Derby County match ahead of two quick fire fixtures at Loftus Road.

QPR host Sheffield Wednesday tonight before facing Aston Villa on Friday evening live on Sky Sports.

And after back-to-back wins on the road, McClaren is eager to replicate that form in W12.

“The Derby County game was a great game of football here, end to end, a great advert for the Championship and I think everybody enjoyed it,” McClaren told www.qpr.co.uk.

“We’d obviously have enjoyed the win but I think the game and performance was a good one. We need more of those at home, starting tomorrow would be a good start.

“We know what Sheffield Wednesday are about, they are a good team and they play good football. As individuals, they have good players and again there are no easy games in the Championship from a team that were in the top six before the weekend.”

An own goal and a Tomer Hemed penalty saw the R’s brush Ipswich aside in confident fashion at the weekend.

It proved a good start to a busy week and one which McClaren is keen to keep going.

“It was an important win (at Ipswich) and the players were very professional,” he said. "I’m particularly pleased with the way we won, not just the three points.

“We are recovering slowly but we are going forward. On the road, we will have a couple of steps back no doubt but we are generally going forward.

“You have to get momentum and keep that spirit we have in the dressing room as it can go a long way to winning you games.

“Tonight after starting the week well we have an opportunity to keep it going.”

McClaren also confirmed he has a fully fit squad to select from: “Everybody has come through the game OK, there’s a full squad to pick from which is what we need this week.”
