IAN Holloway has challenged his players to kick-off 2018 with a much-needed win, when Cardiff City head to Loftus Road in the Sky Bet Championship on Monday afternoon.
The Hoops welcome Neil Warnock’s high-flying Bluebirds to W12 on New Year's Day, as the R’s look to bounce back from Friday’s disappointing defeat at Millwall.
Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk, Holloway focused on the attacking improvements his side need to make, commenting: “We need to capitalise on some of our good attacking play.
“We’re getting into good areas in the attacking third but not taking our chances.
“Some of our shooting was awful on Friday night.”
He added: “I’m glad we’ve got another game so soon.
“We’ve got to try to win to get us nearer to where we want to be.
“It’s a good chance for us to get three points on the board.”
Cardiff head to W12 having tasted defeat in their last three Championship fixtures, a run of results which has seen them drop out of the automatic promotion places.
They sit fourth as things stand and Holloway is well-aware of the threat posed by the Welsh side.
“Neil’s done a fantastic job with the squad he’s put together there, the belief he gives them and the way they set up,” said Holloway.
“The way their front three or four have been working for them has been unbelievable.
“They’re big, they’re strong and Neil deserves the success. He knows what he’s doing and he knows how to set a team and club up. He knows how to get his staff going and he knows how to motivate people.
“So am I surprised by their success? Absolutely not. But I think we’ll have a good chance of taking them on.”
He added: “They’ve lost three in a row - we want to make that four.
“Every game is massive at this level. And this is another big one for us on New Year’s Day.”
