NEDUM Onuoha is growing a Mo to support the Movember Movement this month as recognition of his desire to help men look after themselves.
Movember is designed to help stop men dying too young and the R’s captain told www.qpr.co.uk: “This is an opportunity to help raise awareness around men’s health and I think it’s important we do that.
“There are a lot of things in life that really do matter and our health is right at the top of that list.
“There is far greater coverage surrounding men’s health these days than in the past and that is great.
“For a long time these discussions just haven’t taken place and men have suffered by themselves, not feeling comfortable to face up to the challenges they may have.
“Sometimes men are guilty of being too ashamed to talk about certain things or to check something when it’s not right.
“Hopefully through campaigns such as Movember we can reach a point where men can feel more comfortable to seek help regarding their health.
“Movember isn’t about people looking after themselves, it’s about people encouraging YOU to look after yourself.”
Onuoha is looking forward to growing his Mo but, unlike on the pitch, the pacey defender is not expecting to be quick out of the blocks, explaining: “For the opening few days of the month I think my Mo is going to be a really faint drawn-on one!
“But hopefully it will gain some momentum and be quite strong by the end of it.”
