BORN in Basildon and of American heritage, Charlie Kelman was first with FC Dallas in Texas before moving to the youth ranks of Southend United in 2017.
By the age of 17, Kelman had already started to make a name for himself at Roots Hall, notching an impressive 61 goals for the youth team in the 2017/18 season. Such fine goalscoring form earned the youngster a professional debut against Southampton Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
After making his professional bow, his fine performances continued in the youth setup, eventually earning him his first professional contract with the Shrimpers in early 2019.
Not long after signing on the dotted line, the young attacker really began to make his presence felt in the Blues' senior side. A memorable goal from inside his own half against Plymouth Argyle on his league debut ensured Kelman had a moment in professional football that he will never forget.
The 18-year-old striker went on to score six goals in 35 first-team games. That form has coincided with him representing the USA's Under-20 side, for whom he has scored seven goals in 19 caps.
