OLAMIDE Shodipo has been ruled out for four months following surgery on a thigh injury, Dr Imtiaz Ahmad has confirmed.
QPR’s Head of Medical Services has provided an update on the squad’s injured players, and explained: “Mide had a significant tear to his thigh muscle, which required surgery last week. He’s doing ok after the operation but will be out for approximately four months.”
Josh Scowen missed last weekend’s draw at Birmingham with a knee injury but is set for a swift return.
“Josh is doing very well,” Ahmad said.
“He’s had a minor injury to his knee. He resumed training today without any problems. We are aiming for him to be available for selection for the Bolton game.”
Grant Hall recently returned to first-team action following a seven-month lay-off with tendonitis in his knee, but Ahmad is being understandably cautious following the defender’s comeback.
“Grant played 65 minutes against Bristol Rovers and was due to be involved for the Under-23s on Monday but we took the decision to take him out of that to focus on his specific training needs,” Ahmad said.
“After such a lengthy time out it is important we move at the correct pace with Grant’s rehab. It shouldn’t be too long after the international break before he is available for selection.”
Darnell Furlong and Sean Goss are yet to play for the first team this season owing to knee and back injuries respectively.
Furlong underwent surgery on a torn knee ligament in July and Ahmad said: “Darnell is doing really well.
“He’s already out running. It has been six weeks since his surgery and he will be stepping up his pitchwork in the coming weeks.
“We are hopeful he will be available to the manager by the end of October.”
Goss, meanwhile, featured in the 23s’ 3-2 win over Burnley on Monday and Ahmad added:
“Sean played 45 minutes and has had no reaction which is great news.
“He missed all the pre-season fixtures so just needs some more minutes before being in contention for the first team.”
Young defender Giles Phillips is also currently out, with Ahmad explaining: “Giles had an ankle ligament injury which has unfortunately ruled him for two months.
“He is progressing well with treatment.”
