2016/17: Hull left it a little too late in their quest to stay in the Premier League and were ultimately relegated on the penultimate weekend of the season. The Tigers began the campaign with a win over Leicester City but began to fade badly under Mike Phelan. Marco Silva took over and oversaw a really impressive second half of the year where they were particularly strong at home but in the end it was not quite enough to get the job done. Leonid Slutsky has since taken over, with the Russian undertaking his first job in English football.

One to watch: Sam Clucas – The 26-year-old was arguably Hull’s most impressive midfielder last season and seemed to be the player that made everything tick. The Tigers will be hoping they can keep their midfielder who has proved to be so vital for their team in recent months.
