CONOR Washington played 58 minutes of Northern Ireland’s 2-0 win against the Czech Republic on Monday evening.
The QPR striker helped the Irish guarantee themselves at least a second place Group C finish as they bid to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Finals in Russia next year.
Washington, making his second start of this international week, departed just before the hour mark with Michael O’Neill’s side 2-0 up.
He was replaced by countryman Lee Hodson after West Bromwich Albion duo Johnny Evans and Chris Brunt handed them a first half lead.
Victory sees Northern Ireland on 16 points, five behind group leaders Germany, with two more matches remaining including one against the four time World Cup winners.
The top placed side qualify automatically, whilst eight of the best nine group runners-up in the UEFA section of qualification will go through to the play-offs.
Meanwhile, Washington’s QPR teammate Pawel Wszolek was not named in Poland’s squad for their 3-0 win against Kazakhstan.
Victory sees the Poles top Group E ahead of their final two matches.
