THIS week QPR proudly welcomes its latest AirAsia QPR Coaching Clinics winners to W12.
The eight youngsters – selected from hundreds back in 2016 – arrived on Sunday ahead of an action-packed week which will see them train at the Academy, meet the First Team and visit Loftus Road.
It follows QPR in the Community Trust’s trip to Asia in November, when five coaches jetted off for a fourth year running in their latest bid to unearth a future star of the beautiful game.
Flanked by Trust CEO Andy Evans, the coaches delivered clinics over a two-week period in four destinations across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and China as part of the club’s on-going collaboration with AirAsia.
At the end of every session, coaches picked their players of the day, with the overall ‘achievers’ winning the chance to come to London and enjoy a cultural and football experience.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to work with AirAsia once again,” Evans told www.qpr.co.uk. “This is the programme’s fourth year and every year it just gets bigger and better.
“After another fantastic trip to Asia at the end of 2016, we now hope to give the winners a week to remember and an insight into what life in London and at a professional football club is all about.
“We’re really looking forward to it, as I’m sure they are too.”
The week will see the winners train at the Academy, watch Ian Holloway’s First Team train at Harlington as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of Loftus Road.
They’ll finish their stay by watching QPR’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Cardiff City on Saturday, for which they’ll provide the guard of honour for both teams at kick-off.
