Community Trust to mark two years since Grenfell fire

CLUB Ambassador Andy Sinton and members of staff from QPR in the Community Trust will mark the two-year anniversary of Grenfell on Friday evening.

The evening of remembrance begins from 6.15pm and will start with a wreath being laid at the base of the Grenfell Tower.

On the 14th of every month, Grenfell United hold a silent march and on Friday the QPR representatives will take part in it.

Before that, the Grenfell memorial mosaic will be completed. The memorial mosaic was unveiled in June 2018 and each month a different community group has contributed a petal to it, with each petal displaying a word of strength.

QPR contributed the petal that reads ‘resilience’ in April and on Friday the last of the 12 petals will be added to the flower.

When completed, the mosaic will be given to community group Grenfell United and it is likely to be displayed in the memorial garden.

QPR in the Community Trust CEO Andy Evans said: “Two years on from the terrible night of 14th June 2017 we will honour the memory of those who died and continue to provide support to the community in rebuilding lives whilst they are wrestling with their own grief and trauma.

“The two-year anniversary is a time for QPR and its charitable arm – QPR in the Community Trust – to show that it is a club that cares and will continue to support the survivors and the bereaved at this most difficult of times and in the coming months and years.”

We will continue to support the survivors and the bereaved.
