QPR In the Community Trust’s hugely successful Extra timers club have celebrated their tenth anniversary.
First launched in 2009, the Extra timers club runs every Wednesday 10am-12pm in the Blue and White bar located in the Loftus Road stand. As well as the social aspect of the group, which helps isolated groups engage with each other, it also encourages physical activity with a pilates session provided as part of the morning.
Fiona Hodgson, Business Development Manager for the Trust, spoke to www.qpr.co.uk about the anniversary of the event. She said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Extra Time Club.
“Some of the group members have been attending since the first session all the way back in 2009. In addition to this, one of the popular group members is celebrating her 90th birthday this week, which only adds to the celebrations.
“The group itself provides a sense of community, friendship and the opportunity to take part in physical activity, which many of the group’s members wouldn’t have access to elsewhere.
“Funding from the City Bridge Trust has come from a five-year Bridging Divides grant, which has only helped develop and improve our groups. We are hugely appreciative of that.”
