ON SUNDAY 25th July, six staff members and supporters joined together to represent QPR in the Community Trust in the Asics London 10k.
After an early start, James Urquhart, James Casling, Justin Stone, Conor McBrearty, Simon Cheshire and Colin Clarke all dusted off their running shoes and covered the iconic route in the capital, with many laughs and smiles along the way.
In what was the Trust’s first participant event and the first major running event in London since the pandemic began, it was an amazing opportunity to raise some vital money for the Trust and our amazing participants have done exactly that.
Speaking about the event, participant James Urquhart told www.qpr.co.uk: “I am a lifelong R’s fan and have always been proud of the community work done by the club.”
Conor McBrearty then added: “I worked for QPR in the Community Trust for nearly six years and have seen first-hand the amazing work they do on a daily basis, and I wanted to support this to help it to continue.”
In addition, our very own Simon Cheshire said: “This event was fantastic, I am so delighted to have taken part.
“The cheers throughout the run for being associated with QPR and the Community Trust were so uplifting and to have raised money along the way to help support the fantastic work the Trust continue to do is an amazing feeling and one I am so proud to have achieved.”
Lastly Fiona Hodgson, the Trust’s Business manager, wanted to congratulate the participants by saying: “We would like to thank our six representatives who have shown great commitment to the charity - both in training and taking part and fundraising for the Trust.
“It was great to be part of an in-person event, the first for the charity since the pandemic and we would like to thank everyone who has sponsored the team who did a great job.”
A huge congratulations from everyone here at the Trust to all six of you!
