FOLLOWING last week’s fixture with Luton Town at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, the partnership between the Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank and QPR was launched in what was a successful day.
A collection will take place at the Family Fan Zone, Play Football Shepherds Bush before every home game from now on. With the partnerships opening game raising over 110 kilograms of food which was donated by R’s fans, as well as raising over £450.
Speaking to www.qpr.co.uk QPR Multi activities manager Justin Stone praised the efforts of R’s fans but hopes it can continue throughout the season, by stating: “It was a great start to our partnership, but let’s hope more fans that attend games this season pop into the Fan Zone and continue to donate much needed items. It was fantastic to see the generosity of many supporters on Saturday with some going out of their way to buy items to donate.
"I also want to thank QPR and Luton’s walking football sides who donated a large amount of food after an enthralling game at the family Fan Zone.
Every home game we have a presence at Play Football and fans can donate to the foodbank and continue to help this much-needed service to the local community.”
Commenting on the launch of the partnership, Sian Gates from Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank was pleased with how successful the Luton game was, but hopes this is just the beginning, by saying, “The collection went really well, we were able to let lots of supporters know that they can donate via the Fan Zone at every home game, so thank you to QPR for allowing us this opportunity, all the staff at the club were brilliant and everyone had a fantastic time, we just hope that this will grow and we can help as many people as possible.”
Supporters are reminded that items can be brought to every home game this season, with the Family Fan Zone continuing to collect donations for the foodbank.
