Hyperoptic in partnership with QPR Trust

MONDAY 8th November 2021, London, UK: Hyperoptic, the hyperfast broadband provider, today announces its formal partnership with QPR in the Community Trust. Hyperoptic will be sponsoring its Schools League and Tournament, whereby 11 west London schools battle it out for the number one spot.

QPR in the Community Trust provides opportunities in seven west London boroughs based on the objectives of health, education, social inclusion and participation, tackling national issues at a local level. The Trust recognises the power that football/the football club has, reaching around 25,000 participants, breaking down barriers to participation and creating safer, positive communities.

Its Schools League and Tournament is an annual competitive inter-secondary school fixture, in a league format for years seven to sixth form. Participants get the opportunity to play at Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, the home of Queens Park Rangers. The schools compete in weekly fixtures in a round-robin tournament, with the top teams from each pool playing in a cup final, while the runners-up play-off for the plate. Over 500-plus spectators can purchase tickets to watch the children play.

Hyperoptic is headquartered in Hammersmith. The company pioneered the shift to ‘full fibre’ broadband 10 years ago, which enables consumers and businesses to enjoy gigabit-capable broadband with average speeds of up to 900Mbps, which is over 11 times faster than the UK average. The company has now expanded its network to 57 UK towns and cities. It is available in every London borough and is working hard to make west London a centre of broadband excellence.

Andy Evans, QPR in the Community Trust's CEO, explained to www.qpr.co.uk: “It is fantastic to enter into an agreement with a business which is based in Hammersmith & Fulham.

"I would like to thank Hyperoptic for their keenness to work with us, which will greater benefit our schools programmes.”

In addition Charles Davies, MD ISP, Hyperoptic explained: “Here at Hyperoptic we understand the power that broadband has to break down barriers and enable people to connect. We care deeply about the role that we can play in the communities we serve.

“Across the UK, we have connected over 400 community centres for free and we regularly support local charities, as we know they are ones making a real difference at a grassroots level.

"This partnership with QPR in the Community Trust is exceptionally special for us, given that it’s so close to the heartland of Hyperoptic where we originally launched and where our headquarters are based.”
