FROM Monday 11th May, QPR in the Community Trust will be inviting everyone to #WalkFromHome to help raise money and awareness for the QPR Tiger Cubs or a charity of their choice.
The idea behind #WalkFromHome is simple:
- Use your daily exercise allowance to go for a walk
- Sponsor your own walk by donating to the QPR Tiger Cubs or your chosen charity
- Post a photo of your walk on social media using #WalkFromHome and nominate three friends to do the same
Walk, donate, nominate
The Tiger Cubs is QPR’s official football team for children and young people with Down’s syndrome.
Formed in 2009, QPR have arranged 10 sponsored walks for the Tiger Cubs over the last decade, which has seen participants walk more than 100 miles in total.
All of the money raised from the walks goes directly to the running of the Tiger Cubs team and also allows them to travel to events and purchase new football equipment.
#TigerFeet11 was set to be the Tiger Cubs’ next sponsored walk in March 2020 but due to the outbreak of COVID-19 it had to be postponed.
As a result, the donations they have received this year have been considerably less in comparison to previous years.
QPR in the Community Trust CEO Andy Evans said: “Everyone at the Trust was so gutted when we had to postpone Tiger Feet 11 because so much hard work goes in to organising these events.
“The safety of everyone, of course, had to take priority and we made the correct decision in postponing it. Not having the event has left a big gap in the Tiger Cubs’ funding, though, and we have been thinking of ways to host an alternative from-home event.
“We’ve come up with #WalkFromHome and I really hope that our fans are able to get behind it. It’s nice and simple to take part in and it would be great if we could hit our £12,500 target.
“QPR fans are always brilliant in showing their support for the Tiger Cubs and their generosity has played a massive part in keeping the team going in recent years.”
