ON Friday 6th March 2020, QPR in the Community Trust hosted an Inspirational Women's Festival for Year 5 girls from local schools at PlayFootball, Shepherd's Bush.
The event was held in connection with International Women's Day, which was on Sunday 8th March.
Over 80 girls took part in a fun-filled day that included football, archery, dodgeball and the famous speed cage. In addition to this, QPR in the Community teamed up with 'Party N Paint' for all the participants to unleash their creativity off the football pitch whilst they partied.
As well as lots of fun and activities, they were also joined by QPR FC Women stars Chloe Sampson, Sarah Coomson, Merle Redhead-Ling and Lily Last and striker Sampson was quick to praise the initiative, by telling www.qpr.co.uk: “It’s fantastic, to see all the girls playing football and having fun.
“It’s great to see young girls playing football. After the World Cup, the country saw the amount of in interest in women’s football grow and these sorts of events only highlights that.
“If we hosted this perhaps two or three years ago we probably wouldn’t have had such a big turn out and so much enjoyment, so it’s great to see the growth in the sport and that QPR are a part of that.
“It’s fantastic coming to these events as they really show how invested we are as a club to help support women’s football no matter what level it is at.”
