A famous month in QPR history: December

AT the start of every month during 2019/20, www.qpr.co.uk will be taking a look back at a famous month from a season in the club’s past.

For December, we look back just one year to a month that included a historic QPR victory…

December 2018

Following a poor start to the 2018/19 season, Queens Park Rangers had seen an upturn in results by the time December came around. But the last month of the calendar year was a turbulent one for the R’s, with results starting out poor, with defeats at home to Hull City and away to Leeds United.

A home win against Middlesbrough, thanks to Nahki Well’s second-half winner, brightened the mood around W12.

QPR then travelled to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in a fixture that QPR had never ever been victorious in, in 84 years and 34 attempts. December 2018’s visit was to be different.

Toni Leistner’s effort on the stroke of half time secured all three points for QPR for the first time at Forest in the club's history.

Rangers ended the month in jubilant mood and a Boxing Day home win against struggling Ipswich Town secured the Super Hoops' first double of the season. A goalless draw with Reading capped off a much-improved end to the month for QPR.

The R’s went on to finish the 2018/19 season in 19th place.
